Graduate Program in Health and Public Policy (MPP/MPH)

The following are the requirements for the joint program in Public Policy and Public Health. This curriculum assumes that students are pursuing their MPH in Health Policy and Management. If you will be receiving your MPH in another area of study within the School of Public Health, you will be required to take a different set of courses specific to that area.

PP 240A & B: Decision Analysis Modeling, and Quantitative Methods take the place of PH 142A: Introduction to Probability and Statistics in Biology and Public Health and PH 231A; Research Methods for Health Services; and the Advanced Policy Analysis Thesis Seminar and Thesis Independent Study take the place of the MPH Comprehensive Examination. MPP/MPH students are required to complete a minimum of 80 units over six academic semesters and two summers.

*PH 226B is an advanced course requiring a master's-level or intermediate undergraduate microeconomics course.
**PH 227B is an advanced course requiring a master's-level finance prerequisite or consent of instructor.
***If PH 223C is taken in lieu of PP 230B, then PP 220 and PP 230 A are required.
